Moodboards and Why They Can Be A Helpful Starting Point

Whether you are moving home, redesigning your whole interior or just upgrading one room, using a mood board can be a useful tool for both you and your designer. You may have a chosen colour already in mind or some chosen memories you’d like to incorporate. Your designer will be able to talk through your aspirations and come up with a design to suit both comfort and style. When doing a mood board at home a good use of ideas are magazine clippings, paint colour charts, family photos, home furnishing magazines, food colours, materials, patterns, and fabrics.  You may like two clashing colours, that an interior designer can bring together in a stylish way.  Think also about the era you are wanting to achieve traditional, modern, funky, cottage, the sixties, seventies are all styles to think about. Also, consider the style of your property as a whole.  Do you want to keep in character or have that clash of ‘old meets new’?
